Broken Garage Door Cable Repair

If one of the garage door cables gets broken, the door will begin to malfunction. The door will be uneven. It will hang on one side. It will not close all the way. It may open only to a certain level. It may be jammed or cocked. Visual inspection can confirm the problem.

The repair involves the replacement of the cable with a new one. The old part is removed and the new one is installed in its place. The replacement cable has to have the same length and diameter as the old one so that it will match the door. Most replacement parts are designed for standard residential garage doors which measure 7 feet or 8 feet in height. The choice of cable attachment depends on the design of the door.
